It's never too late to be what you might have been. -George Eliot.

Another year is about to begin, and with it, a series of goals we've set for ourselves.

I am one of those who enjoys the Christmas seasonOf course, I make a list of resolutions for each upcoming year. I'm sure many others do too. So today I'd like to talk a little about motivation.

As we all know, many resolutions just get left on the list. Sometimes we start off on the right foot, with all the excitement a new year can bring, but as the year progresses, so does our desire to persevere with our goals. Other times, we know we won't accomplish a specific resolution from the moment we conceive it. The key may be in motivation.

How to stay motivated?

Give meaning to your goal.

To achieve our goals, motivation It's essential. It's the force that allows us to achieve our goals. Or at least try, which is something. To stay motivated, therefore, we will have to choose our goals from honesty. Therefore, it is important to know why we want to achieve a particular objective.

What values and feelings are you really pursuing?

Think carefully about what it is that you would love to start (or stop) doing and what would be the point of achieving it. Try it for yourself and for yourself. And although it may seem obvious, yes. If our goal is something we truly want and also fulfills an important purpose in our life, it's easier to stay motivated.

Find where your motivation comes from.

Every person has something that motivates them especially. For some, it's recognition, others get excited when there's a reward or prize involved, and for others, personal growth or satisfaction is what motivates them. Think about the times you've achieved your goals and figure out what motivates you. If you know where your motivation comes from, it will be easier not only to find it when you need it, but also to maintain it.

Make a plan.

Don't expect your goal to happen overnight. No one learns to play a musical instrument with just one lesson. Just as no one loses 10 kilos in a couple of days. And absolutely No one can make their New Year's wishes come true just by writing them down and visualizing them.

Whatever you have set out to do requires an action plan and work. There's no magic bullet or shortcut. Realizing this can help you get back on track and work toward achieving your goals. Create a realistic plan to achieve realistic goals. That's all it takes.

As you can see, you can turn the moment of making New Year's resolutions into a true exercise in self-knowledge. Prepare for obstacles and celebrate every step you take toward your goal. If you do this, you'll see that the motivation will stay for a long time.
