A year ago, I wrote an article about how controversial mental or psychological disorders can be. These types of afflictions have always been surrounded by myths and prejudices that, in the end, can prevent people from seeking help.
In my opinion, the most harmful myth regarding mental health is the following:
“Mental disorder is just a fancy name for a weak-willed person.”
When we refer to mental disorders, we are talking about psychological or cognitive conditions that cause symptoms genuine. Therefore, it does not depend on our willpower or our morality whether we suffer from a psychological disorder or not.
