{"id":649,"date":"2017-12-19T16:54:45","date_gmt":"2017-12-19T15:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/carolinadiazruiz.com\/?p=649"},"modified":"2025-09-02T16:36:41","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T14:36:41","slug":"recursos-autoayuda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/carolinadiazruiz.com\/en\/recursos-autoayuda\/","title":{"rendered":"6 Self-Help Resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Here are six free self-help resources.<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">To select them, I made sure they were aimed at a general audience and not necessarily therapists, and, obviously, that their content was of high quality.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Self-help books and resources can be a very important step toward emotional well-being. <strong>If we truly internalize its content and carefully apply it to our lives, sometimes that&#039;s all we need.<\/strong> It&#039;s like a small, gentle push forward. But of course, that&#039;s not always the case.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"> It is up to each person to do <strong>an exercise in reflection and honesty<\/strong> to decide whether, beyond reading about a specific topic, it is time to look for <a href=\"https:\/\/carolinadiazruiz.com\/en\/2017\/09\/25\/momento-de-ir-con-un-psicologo\/\">professional help<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">As the psychologist points out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.es\/miguel-angel-rizaldos\/libros-de-autoayuda-son-utiles_a_22119054\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miguel \u00c1ngel Rizaldos<\/a>:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What psychotherapeutic intervention produces is individual and varies from person to person. An analogy would be: a self-help book is a one-size-fits-all t-shirt, and psychotherapy is a salesperson who, in addition to telling you your size, offers you several styles.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">That said, here I present to you <strong>six self-help resources<\/strong> which I hope will be useful to you.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>1. Stress and the art of making our lives miserable.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Created by <em>Madrid Health<\/em>, this is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.madrid.es\/UnidadesDescentralizadas\/Salud\/Publicaciones%20Propias%20Madrid%20salud\/Ficheros%20Publicaciones%20ISP\/Estres_arte_amargarnos_2009.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">information notebook<\/a> and entertaining book that explains the characteristics of stress and some keys to making us less upset. I find it very enjoyable and recommendable.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>2. Understanding anxiety.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A <a href=\"http:\/\/ccalderon.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/10-Comprendiendo-la-ansiedad.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">self-help guide<\/a> for those who are overwhelmed by anxiety. This guide was created by the<em> Andalusian Health Service<\/em> and has a whole section on how to better control anxiety.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>3. TED Talks to combat stress.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Here you can find a list of<a href=\"http:\/\/noticias.universia.cl\/consejos-profesionales\/noticia\/2015\/09\/01\/1130585\/9-charlas-ted-ayudaran-combatir-estres.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> 9 TED talks<\/a> that will help you combat stress. From the list, I highlight 1 and 4. But try taking some time for yourself and watching them all. They&#039;re thought-provoking, and you&#039;ll almost certainly learn something new, too.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>4. Therapeutic writing exercise.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Writing can be therapeutic because, in an intimate way, it gives us the opportunity to express our emotions. It also gives us the chance to create stories, and thus, give meaning to ideas or experiences we&#039;ve had.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cuartodecontadores.es\/2015\/11\/escritura-terapeutica.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> You can read more about it here.<\/a> At the end of the article, there is a therapeutic writing exercise you can do.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>5. Coping with depression.<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/consaludmental.org\/publicaciones\/Afrontarladepresion.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">help guide for patients and families<\/a> on how to deal with depression. Created by the <em>Juan Jos\u00e9 L\u00f3pez-Ibor Foundation<\/em> and the <em>Arpegio Foundation<\/em>The guide offers a wealth of information, including recommended reading.
